One Hospitalized After Shooting Near Bass Pro Shops in Mesa

MESA, Ariz. — One person was hospitalized Thursday afternoon following a shooting near Dobson Road and Bass Pro Drive that Mesa Police say appears to have stemmed from a firearm transaction that went wrong.
Mesa Police responded to the area just after 1 p.m. and located one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
According to Mesa Police Detective Aguirre, preliminary information indicates the shooting was an isolated incident involving a firearm transaction.

Police said everyone involved in the incident has been detained and there is no known threat to the surrounding community.
Investigators remained on scene Thursday as the circumstances surrounding the shooting continued to be investigated.
Following the incident, Mesa Police reminded residents to use caution when buying or selling items with people they do not know, especially firearms or other high-value items.
Mesa Police stations have designated areas in their parking lots where members of the public can conduct transactions in a safer location.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
