MESA, Ariz. — A heartbreaking update has been released by the Mesa Police Department this morning: Carolyn Scheuer, the 55-year-old woman who had been reported missing in late May, has been found deceased.

According to detectives, Scheuer was located in Mesa on June 9, and she was positively identified earlier this week. The tragic confirmation was made public on June 17, 2025, at 10:50 a.m.

Carolyn was last seen on May 25 near Recker Road and McDowell Road in the East Valley. Family members became increasingly concerned after she left her home that morning and never returned. She was reportedly driving a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with Arizona plates, and her disappearance prompted a widespread search effort.

The Mesa Police Department issued a statement following the identification:

"Our hearts are with Carolyn's family while they process this devastating news."

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office is currently reviewing the case, and her manner of death remains listed as pending.

Carolyn's case had drawn attention and support across the Valley, and her family had hoped for a safe return. Instead, they are now mourning the loss of a beloved woman whose absence leaves a painful void in the community.
