Man Injured After Gun Discharges During Fight Outside Tempe In-N-Out; Suspect Sought

TEMPE, Ariz. — A fight outside an In-N-Out Burger in Tempe ended with a gun going off early Sunday morning, sending one man to the hospital and prompting a search for the person police say fled the scene.
Tempe Police responded shortly after midnight on September 20 to the 2400 block of West Baseline Road, near Calle Los Cerros. The incident happened outside the In-N-Out Burger located in that area.
According to the Tempe Police Department, a group of men were involved in a fight when one man pulled out a gun.
Police said a struggle over the weapon followed and the gun discharged. One man was struck by bullet fragments and was taken to the hospital.
The victim has since been released from the hospital, according to police.
The suspect fled the scene following the shooting. Officers and detectives are continuing to investigate and are working to identify and locate that person.
Initial information from the scene indicated there may have been another person transported to the hospital, but Tempe Police have only confirmed one injured victim in their official update.
Additional details about what started the fight or the identity of those involved have not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
