Haines City Man Arrested After Disruptive Behavior at Winter Haven Bar

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A Haines City man was arrested early Friday morning after deputies responded to reports of a fight at a Winter Haven bar and say the man later became combative and threatened law enforcement.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to AJ Slammers Lounge in Winter Haven around 2:14 a.m. on March 6 after reports of a fight at the bar.

When deputies arrived, the altercation had already ended. However, deputies noticed a man walking away from the area with blood on his nose.

That man was later identified as 35-year-old Robert Stanley Jean, III of Haines City.

Deputies attempted to check on Jean to make sure he was okay, but authorities say he was uncooperative and refused to speak about what had happened.

Investigators also noted that Jean appeared heavily intoxicated.

Concerned that he might attempt to drive while impaired, deputies tried to persuade him to call a designated driver to get him home safely.

Situation Escalates

Instead of arranging a ride, authorities say Jean attempted to get into his own vehicle. Deputies prevented him from doing so in order to stop him from potentially driving while intoxicated.

According to deputies, Jean then became increasingly agitated, refused orders to leave the property, and began making repeated threats toward deputies on scene.

Jean was taken into custody and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center.

He now faces several charges, including:
