POINCIANA, Fla. — Residents in portions of the Poinciana area are under a precautionary boil water advisory after a loss of power at a local water treatment facility caused a drop in water pressure, according to Toho Water Authority (Toho).

As a precaution, customers are advised to boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. Bottled water may also be used as an alternative.

Toho noted that water used for laundry, bathing, and showering does not need to be boiled.

A minimum of two days of regulatory testing is required before the advisory can be lifted. Toho expects to provide an update by Tuesday, June 16.

Officials are encouraging residents to monitor updates and follow all precautionary measures until the advisory is officially canceled.
