Man Intentionally Sets Yard on Fire, Endangering Neighbors In Poinciana

POINCIANA, Fla. — Polk County Fire Rescue responded late Monday morning to a vegetation fire in a residential neighborhood after a neighbor reported an unattended yard fire spreading into nearby woods.

According to information from the 911 call, a man intentionally started a fire in his yard and then went back inside his home, leaving the fire unattended and uncontrolled. Concerned neighbors attempted to make contact, but the homeowner reportedly refused to answer the door as the fire spread toward nearby wooded areas, creating a dangerous situation.

Due to the growing fire conditions, Polk County Fire Rescue requested a brush truck and a water tender to assist with containment efforts. Fire officials advised that the homeowner intentionally set the yard on fire, endangering neighboring properties.

The incident was reported at approximately 11:36 a.m. in the area of 435 Columbia Court in Poinciana. Fire crews worked to stop the spread and protect nearby homes. No injuries have been reported.

Because of the nature of the call, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was en route to the scene to assist.

Residents are reminded that open burning can be extremely dangerous, especially when left unattended, and may violate local burn restrictions.
