Mesa Man Arrested in Homicide Investigation After Woman Found Dead in Apartment
MESA, Ariz. — A Mesa man has been arrested on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges following the death of a woman who was found inside an apartment earlier this week, according to the Mesa Police Department, which provided the information directly to iSkyNews.com.
Mesa Police said officers responded to an apartment near 1st Street and Hibbert Street on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 11:15 a.m. after an adult male called 911 and reported returning home to find his girlfriend unresponsive. The caller told dispatchers he was attempting to reposition her so he could begin CPR.
Officers and Mesa Fire and Medical personnel arrived shortly afterward and located the woman inside the apartment. She was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:23 a.m.
Due to the significant injuries observed on the victim, Mesa Police Homicide detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
According to investigators, detectives confirmed the reporting party and the victim lived together and were in a relationship. Evidence recovered at the scene, preliminary findings from the Office of the Medical Examiner, and interviews conducted during the investigation led detectives to develop probable cause to arrest the reporting party.
The victim was identified as 36-year-old Cierra Tellez.
The reporting party was identified as 37-year-old Kyle Dean Collins, who was arrested and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 9:44 p.m., according to jail records.

Collins is charged with:
- First-Degree Murder (ARS 13-1105(A)(2)), a Class 1 felony
- Kidnapping (ARS 13-1304(A)(3)), a Class 2 felony
- Driving While License Suspended, Revoked, or Canceled (ARS 28-3473(A)), a misdemeanor
Court records show Collins is being held on a $1,250,500 bond. His felony charges have been bound over to Superior Court under Case No. PF2026128674001. His next scheduled court appearance is set for July 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in North Mesa Justice Court, located at 222 E. Javelina Ave., Mesa, Arizona.
