Late-Night Kitchen Fire Prompts Swift Response from Mesa Fire and Police

Mesa, Arizona (iSkyNews.com) — Just after midnight, a reported house fire brought emergency crews rushing to the 1300 block of North Raven Street near East Grandview Street in Mesa. At approximately 12:45 a.m., a 911 call reported thick smoke pouring from the front door and garage of a residence in the quiet neighborhood.

When the first Mesa Fire and Medical engine arrived on scene, nothing was visibly burning from the exterior. However, due to the nature of the call, crews immediately upgraded the incident to a Working Fire, prompting additional resources including a ladder truck, several engines, and a battalion chief.

Mesa Police also responded quickly, assisting firefighters by ensuring the home was fully evacuated while crews made entry.

Upon entering the home, firefighters discovered the source of the fire was a stove left unattended. Although the flames were extinguished quickly, the interior of the home had filled with heavy smoke. Firefighters used ventilation equipment to clear the smoke, allowing residents to safely re-enter the home a short time later.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. All emergency units were cleared and back in service by 1:30 a.m.

Officials are reminding the public to check their smoke detectors regularly, as early warning systems can be critical in preventing serious injuries or damage.
