Police Respond to Altercation at Red Mountain High School After Football Game

MESA, Ariz. — Mesa Police and Mesa Fire responded to Red Mountain High School late Friday night following a physical altercation near the football field shortly after a football game.
The incident occurred at Red Mountain High School, located at 7301 E. Brown Road in Mesa.
At approximately 9:41 p.m., officers and fire crews were called to the campus for reports of an altercation. Nearly a dozen police officers responded, and students were asked to leave the area while officers investigated.
iSkyNews.com and AZValleyMedia were on scene as students were seen quickly leaving the school grounds while police converged near the parking lot and football field area.
A student who spoke with iSkyNews.com and AZValleyMedia said the altercation reportedly involved a couple and another individual. The student also claimed a possible weapon may have been displayed during the confrontation.
That information has not been confirmed by Mesa Police, and iSkyNews.com is withholding additional details until they can be independently verified.
iSkyNews.com later spoke with a Mesa Police Department spokesperson, who confirmed that an altercation did occur in the area of the school.
Police have not yet released additional information about what led up to the incident, whether anyone was injured, if a weapon was recovered, or whether any arrests were made.
Mesa Police indicated additional information is expected to be provided as the investigation continues.
