Long Beach Man Arrested by FBI for Allegedly Attempting to Support ISIS

Long Beach, California (iSkyNews.com) — In a coordinated early morning operation, agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), with the assistance of FBI SWAT, arrested 28-year-old Mark Lorenzo Villanueva of Long Beach on federal charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization.

The arrest took place without incident, and investigators conducted a search of Villanueva’s residence, where evidence of explosives was reportedly recovered, according to a statement released by FBI Los Angeles.

Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the materials or how far along the suspect’s plans had progressed. However, officials say the investigation had been ongoing for some time and posed a credible threat.

Villanueva is expected to face federal charges in connection with his alleged efforts to aid ISIS. It remains unclear if additional individuals are involved or if further arrests are expected.

The FBI emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public and that today's arrest reflects the continued vigilance of counterterrorism teams working to prevent violence and protect national security.
