Fort Meade Woman Charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder After Dispute Over Bed Sheets
Fort Meade, FL (iSkyNews.com) — A domestic dispute over bed sheets and blankets turned violent Sunday evening, leading to the arrest of a Fort Meade woman on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Fort Meade around 5:18 p.m. on July 27 following a 911 call reporting a battery in progress.
The investigation revealed that 26-year-old Anaya Durandisse Williams became enraged over the type of bedding that the victim had placed in her room. What began as a verbal disagreement quickly escalated into a violent physical attack.
Deputies say Williams grabbed the victim by the hair and struck her on the head with an empty glass bottle, causing it to shatter. The victim further reported being kicked and bitten during the altercation.
When the victim attempted to call 911, Williams allegedly armed herself with a knife and struck the victim in the back, causing a minor laceration.
Williams later admitted to detectives that she attacked the victim, stating she did so because the victim is “overly-emotional and pushes people over the edge.”
She was arrested at the scene and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center, where she was booked on the following charges:
- Attempted Second-Degree Murder
- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon
Authorities confirmed the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. The case remains under investigation.
