CENTRAL FLORIDA — Residents across portions of Central Florida could see scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Sunday evening as unstable weather moves through the region.

Forecasters say rain chances range from 20 percent to 60 percent, with the highest likelihood of storms near and south of Orlando during the evening hours.

Potential Hazards

While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few storms may bring brief hazardous conditions including:

⚡ Occasional lightning
💨 Wind gusts up to 40 to 45 mph
🧊 Small hail up to dime size

The National Weather Service says storm activity should gradually diminish later in the evening, especially south of Orlando.

Where Storms Are Most Likely

The areas most likely to experience thunderstorms include:

  • Orlando
  • Kissimmee
  • Sanford
  • Kenansville
  • Okeechobee region
  • Communities along the I-4 corridor

Coastal areas may see lower storm coverage, though isolated showers remain possible.

Safety Reminder

Meteorologists advise residents to move indoors if storms approach, as lightning can occur even in weaker thunderstorms.

Drivers should also remain alert for sudden heavy rain and gusty winds, which may briefly reduce visibility on roadways.
