SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale Police detectives have arrested a 44-year-old man accused of using a slingshot to launch rocks at condominium windows in a months-long series of targeted attacks that caused an estimated $100,000 in property damage.
According to investigators, police had been responding to reports over several months from residents near 4400 N. 75th Street, where rocks repeatedly shattered windows and residents described hearing sudden impacts striking their homes.
Using surveillance techniques and investigative leads, detectives ultimately identified 44-year-old Jaime Rodriguez as the suspect responsible for the damage. Authorities say Rodriguez allegedly used a slingshot to fire rocks at windows, breaking multiple windows at a condominium complex in the area.
Police say the investigation revealed the projectiles appeared to be targeted at a specific individual — the person Rodriguez’s ex-wife was dating.
During the investigation, detectives also uncovered additional allegations involving stalking and harassment of Rodriguez’s ex-wife.
According to police, investigators learned the suspect called the victim’s bank more than 1,700 times, possibly attempting to obtain information about her financial activity and whereabouts. In another incident reported to authorities, the victim discovered an Apple AirTag hidden under the hood of her vehicle, raising concerns that she may have been tracked.
Rodriguez was initially arrested on February 14, 2026, on multiple counts of criminal damage and endangerment. He was taken into custody and transported to the Maricopa County Jail.
Following further investigation, authorities say Rodriguez was arrested again on March 3, 2026, on multiple counts of stalking related to the case.
Charging decisions will ultimately be determined by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, according to Scottsdale Police.
