Florida Highway Patrol Investigating Deadly Crash Near EPCOT in Orlando

Speeding Car Crashes Into Tree, Ignites in Flames Near EPCOT

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly overnight crash near Walt Disney World left one person dead early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Troopers responded to the crash around 1:22 a.m. on March 15, 2026, near the intersection of EPCOT Center Drive and Overpass Road in Orange County.

According to investigators, a 2023 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on EPCOT Center Drive, just north of Overpass Road, when the driver was reportedly traveling above the posted speed limit and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle ran off the roadway in a northwesterly direction before colliding with a tree. Authorities say the impact caused the vehicle to become fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the identity of the victim has not yet been released, as the Medical Examiner’s Office is working to positively identify the deceased and notify next of kin.

The crash remains under active investigation.
