Off-Duty Officer Performs CPR After Vehicle Slams into Davenport Fence
DAVENPORT, FL – A single-vehicle accident in Davenport left one person in critical condition today, following a collision that sparked an immediate life-saving effort by a bystander.
The incident occurred when a vehicle left the roadway and struck both a tree and a fence. Units from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and Polk County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene to find the driver unresponsive.
The driver’s chances of survival were significantly bolstered by the quick actions of an off-duty officer who was in the vicinity at the time of the crash. The officer immediately began performing CPR on the unresponsive individual, continuing the life-saving measures until emergency medical teams could take over.
The victim was transported via ambulance to a Osceola Regional Trauma Center in serious/critical condition.
Investigation and Road Closures
Following the crash, PCSO deputies closed both lanes of the road to investigate the scene and clear the wreckage from the damaged fence and tree.
- Current Status: Both lanes remain shut down while investigators work to determine the cause of the accident.
- Agencies on Scene: Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Fire Rescue.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or the off-duty officer involved.
