Severe Storms Expected in North Florida This Afternoon ⚠️ Tornado Watch Likely | 80% Chance

A line of strong storms is moving into North Florida, and conditions are becoming more favorable for damaging winds and a couple of tornadoes later today.

  • 🌡️ Temperatures rising into the 70s
  • 💧 Humidity increasing (dewpoints in the 60s)
  • ⚡ Storm energy building (MLCAPE 500–1000 J/kg)
  • 🌪️ Wind patterns support rotating storms (SRH 200–300 m²/s²)

Main threats:

  • Tornadoes (possibly EF1–EF2, 85–115 mph)
  • Wind gusts up to 70 mph
  • Isolated hail up to 1.25 inches

A Tornado Watch is expected soon for parts of north and northeast Florida, including areas near Gainesville, Lake City, and Jacksonville. Stay weather-aware and have alerts enabled.
