Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation in Apache Junction

Apache Junction, AZ — An officer-involved shooting in Apache Junction on Saturday, February 14, 2026, left an adult male deceased and has prompted an external investigation by regional authorities.

According to the Apache Junction Police Department (AJPD), officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. to a report of a disturbance near Shiprock St. and Main Dr. The caller reported hearing a female yelling, noting that she left the residence in a vehicle with an adult male and later returned.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description at the residence and made contact with an armed adult male. During this encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

AJPD confirmed that no officers were injured. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident remains an active and ongoing investigation. In accordance with standard protocol, the case has been turned over to the Mesa Police Department, which is handling the review as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team (EVCIRT).

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased or further details surrounding the confrontation.
