Large Brush Fire Spreads to Nearby Buildings in Kissimmee; Smoke Visible for Miles
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A fast‑moving brush fire erupted Sunday near 2050 Avenue A in Kissimmee, quickly spreading to nearby buildings and triggering a major multi‑agency emergency response across Osceola County.
The fire, driven by dry vegetation and shifting winds, produced towering flames and a massive smoke plume that could be seen from Walt Disney World, St. Cloud, and Poinciana. Residents across the region reported thick, dark smoke drifting overhead as firefighters rushed to contain the blaze.
Crews from multiple departments — including local fire rescue units, county agencies, and mutual‑aid partners — worked to protect surrounding structures as the fire advanced toward industrial and residential areas. Heavy equipment and additional water supply units were brought in to support the containment effort.
As of early afternoon, officials had not released information on injuries or the extent of structural damage. Firefighters remained on scene conducting active suppression and monitoring for flare‑ups.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
