Hit-and-Run Crash Kills 74-Year-Old Pedestrian in Bradenton; FHP Searching for Suspect Vehicle
BRADENTON, Fla. — A 74-year-old man was killed Monday evening in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a roadway in Bradenton, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:49 p.m. on February 9, 2026, along 60th Avenue West at Flamingo Boulevard, approximately a quarter-mile west of U.S. 41 (14th Street West).
Troopers say the victim was walking within a marked crosswalk near the entrance and exit of a nearby shopping plaza when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, after the collision the suspect vehicle entered the Flamingo Garden Apartment complex and briefly stopped. The driver then continued through the complex, re-entered 60th Avenue West, and fled westbound from the area.
The vehicle involved is described as possibly a Toyota RAV4 or Toyota 4Runner SUV, believed to be dark gray or black. The driver has not been identified, and the crash remains under investigation.
The victim was identified as a 74-year-old man from Bradenton. His name has not yet been released.
The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the suspect vehicle to call *FHP or contact Crime Stoppers. Authorities say tips can be provided anonymously.
The case is being investigated by FHP Corporal C. Davidson under case number FHP26ON0062176.
