Arizona DUI Task Force Makes 109 DUI Arrests During WM Phoenix Open Enforcement Period
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Law enforcement agencies participating in the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS) DUI Task Force made 109 DUI arrests during a multi-day enforcement effort conducted February 5 through February 7, 2026, according to an immediate media advisory released this week.
The enforcement initiative occurred outside the official footprint of the WM Phoenix Open and Birds Nest events, focusing on impaired and dangerous driving throughout surrounding areas.
According to AZGOHS, officers conducted 1,091 total traffic stops during the operation. Of the 109 DUI arrests, 13 were aggravated, 96 were misdemeanors, and 23 involved extreme DUI cases with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or higher. The average known BAC was 0.150.
Additional enforcement activity included:
- 35 DUI drug arrests
- 21 distracted driving citations
- 26 criminal speed citations
- 113 civil speed citations
- 300 other non-speed citations
- 41 additional arrests
- 16 Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluations
- 66 sober designated drivers contacted
- 1 child restraint citation
- 4 under-21 liquor law citations
A total of 136 officers and deputies participated in the enforcement effort.
AZGOHS officials emphasized that these figures reflect task force activity conducted outside the WM Phoenix Open event footprint. Enforcement statistics from inside the WM Phoenix Open and Birds Nest events, overseen by Scottsdale Police Department, have not yet been released.
Officials say Scottsdale PD is expected to provide its 2026 action and enforcement statistics within the next one to two days, once numbers are fully confirmed for accuracy.
AZGOHS requested patience from the public and media, stressing the importance of reporting accurate and complete statistics to properly reflect the work done by law enforcement agencies to keep the event safe both inside and outside the event footprint.
