“Mexican Sushi Made Me Do It”: DUI Suspect Arrested After Vomit-Filled Stop
TEMPE, AZ — Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words… and sometimes you’re just grateful photos don’t come with smell-o-vision.
That was definitely the case on the night of November 29, 2025, when a concerned caller alerted authorities to a white sedan barreling westbound on AZ-202, swerving across multiple lanes, slamming into the median wall, and somehow continuing on as if nothing happened.
Arizona Highway Patrol State Troopers quickly located the vehicle near Center Parkway—and what they found wasn’t pretty.
According to troopers, the sedan continued drifting across lane lines as they followed behind, prompting an immediate traffic stop. When the driver stepped out, the situation only grew more concerning… and a lot more pungent.
Troopers say the man had vomited several times inside the vehicle—and, unfortunately, once outside of it. The driver blamed everything on what he described as “Mexican sushi,” insisting it was a bad meal and not impairment that caused his erratic driving.
But troopers weren’t buying it.
After conducting field sobriety tests, officers determined the driver was under the influence. He was arrested for DUI and transported to an AZDPS facility, where a blood draw was conducted to complete the investigation. The man later admitted to drinking beer and a shot of Fireball earlier in the day, though he continued to maintain that the real culprit was his questionable culinary choices.

Authorities remind drivers that whether you’re intoxicated or simply not feeling well, getting behind the wheel is dangerous and can cost lives.
🚓 DUI = JAIL
👮 If you’re impaired or sick, do not drive. Choose to arrive alive.
