Shoppers Evacuated After Fire Erupts Inside Dillard’s at Superstition Springs Mall
MESA, AZ — A mid-morning fire inside the Superstition Springs Mall prompted a large emergency response and the evacuation of roughly 100 people from the Dillard’s department store on Monday.
The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. at the Dillard’s located at 6545 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85206. According to Mesa Fire and Medical officials, a 911 caller reported a fire in the “Homes Section” of the store, triggering an immediate multi-unit dispatch.
Store employees acted quickly, escorting approximately 100 shoppers and staff outside to safety as fire crews rushed to the scene.
Mesa Fire and Medical arrived within minutes and were able to rapidly extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the store. Once the situation was under control, remaining units en route were cancelled.
No injuries were reported, and after a thorough safety check, everyone was allowed to re-enter the building. One engine from Station 209 stayed on scene to monitor conditions and ensure there were no remaining hazards before fully clearing.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
