MESA, AZ (iSkyNews) – An alert off-duty Mesa Police detective came across a domestic violence victim Tuesday afternoon at the Bashas shopping plaza near Higley and Brown Roads.

According to Mesa Police, the woman reported she had been involved in a domestic violence altercation approximately 15 minutes earlier. Patrol officers quickly responded to the scene at 1122 N. Higley Rd. around 4:00 p.m., taking over the investigation.

Mesa Fire and Medical personnel also responded, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

I called Mesa PD to BShas once when I was finally able to get away from my abuser. I told them what was going on and they told me they were going to call him and see what he had to say and told me to go home and get a restraining order. I called again when he had pushed me down in the front yard. I tried to tell them too. I showed them pictures of my shattered nose. They asked me “how do we know you didn’t do that to yourself” Mesa PD is not good at helping victims of DV
