MESA, AZ — A serious collision between a passenger car and a motorcycle sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at 3:06 p.m. at E. Albany Street and N. Recker Road in Mesa. First responders say a white passenger vehicle and a motorcycle collided, leaving the rider critically injured.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), southbound Recker Road prior to Albany was completely shut down while deputies conducted their investigation. Mesa Police assisted with traffic control, closing off the roadway to keep the area clear for emergency crews.
Mesa Fire & Medical Station 220 and Rural Metro Fire Engine 857 responded to the crash, along with emergency medical personnel. Paramedics were requested to respond Code 3, meaning they proceeded with lights and sirens activated, signifying a critical and time-sensitive medical emergency.
The patient was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Authorities confirmed that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was the lead agency handling the investigation into the collision.
The roadway has since been reopened, and all units are back in service. At this time, no further details on the circumstances leading up to the crash have been released.
