GLENDALE, AZ – A concrete truck overturned on southbound AZ-101 near the Cardinals Way exit this morning, blocking multiple lanes and causing significant traffic delays. The driver reported that a blown rear tire led to the loss of control.

Arizona Highway Patrol State Troopers responded to the incident, which occurred on the morning of July 9, 2025. According to the driver, one of his rear tires failed, causing the rear of the heavy vehicle to sway. Despite his efforts, he lost control, resulting in the truck rolling over on the busy highway.

The crash created a substantial obstruction, requiring the dispatch of a heavy-duty tow truck to clear the scene. Multiple lanes were affected for an extended period until the overturned vehicle could be removed and the roadway made safe.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder for all commercial drivers about the importance of thorough pre-trip inspections. Authorities emphasize that such checks are vital for safety, potentially saving lives and preventing costly delays.

"Commercial drivers: do your pre-trip checks! It could save your life and your time," stated the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS). They also highlighted the need for regular vehicle maintenance, particularly given the impact of "Summer heat and super-hot highways" on tire performance. The AZDPS continues to advocate for commercial motor vehicle safety under their "Courteous Vigilance" initiative.
