TUCSON, AZ – A motorist's attempt to rush through traffic on I-10 came to an abrupt halt yesterday when Arizona Highway Patrol State Troopers arrested him following a high-speed collision. The driver, who was reportedly weaving through lanes at 110 MPH, now faces multiple charges and an outstanding warrant.
Troopers were working on I-10 when they observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed and exhibiting reckless behavior by weaving through traffic. Shortly after passing a patrol unit, the driver clipped the back of another vehicle, leading to an immediate response from law enforcement.
The driver was apprehended at the scene and subsequently transported to the Pima County Jail. He faces charges of reckless driving and criminal speeding, offenses which, according to authorities, typically result in jail time.
In addition to these charges, the driver was also cited for failing to control the speed of his vehicle to avoid a collision, not wearing a seatbelt, and failing to provide proof of insurance. To further complicate matters, it was discovered that the driver also had an outstanding warrant for traffic-related offenses. The vehicle involved in the incident was impounded.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) frequently reminds motorists of the dangers of reckless behavior on the road, emphasizing "Reckless Driving = JAIL" and "Criminal Speed = JAIL." They also reiterate the importance of safety measures, stating, "Wear your seatbelt, it’s the law!" The incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of dangerous driving habits.
