MESA, AZ – A serious two-vehicle accident occurred late Saturday night, May 31st, at approximately 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of S. Signal Butte Rd. and Gateway Freeway. The collision involved an SUV and a motorcycle.
Emergency crews from Mesa Fire & Medical arrived to find the motorcycle rider unresponsive on the ground. The rider was triaged as an immediate patient and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Two other individuals involved in the accident, presumably occupants of the SUV, were assessed as delayed patients. They received treatment at the scene and declined further transport to a hospital.
Mesa Police responded to the incident and have shut down both northbound and southbound lanes on S. Signal Butte Rd. to conduct their investigation. Queen Creek Fire & Police units were also on scene to provide assistance.
As of 1:00 a.m. this morning, June 1st, the roadway remains closed while authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the crash. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
