Lakeland, FL – According to the Polk County Fire Rescue, one person has died following a recreational vehicle (RV) fire on Combee Road in Lakeland earlier today, according to Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR).

Polk County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched at 11:52 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, to reports of a working fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found an RV fully engulfed in flames. Initial reports indicated that an individual was potentially trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was under control, they located one confirmed fatality within the RV.

No additional injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and no other individuals were transported from the scene.

The cause of the fire is now the subject of a joint investigation being conducted by the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Further details are pending the outcome of their inquiry.
