Mesa, AZ – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Val Vista Drive and Southern Avenue resulted in significant traffic disruptions but fortunately, no serious injuries earlier today.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Mesa Fire & Medical units arriving on the scene discovered a dark-colored sedan with heavy damage to its passenger side and an SUV also involved in the collision.
Mesa Police officers quickly secured the area, closing the northbound turn lane on Val Vista Drive approaching Southern Avenue and the eastbound lane of Southern Avenue as they approached the intersection. These closures were implemented to allow emergency personnel to work safely and to facilitate the investigation into the cause of the crash.
iSkyNews.com was on location and spoke with one of the individuals involved in the more severely damaged vehicle. The female victim stated that she was okay and declined any medical assistance at the scene.
Mesa Fire & Medical personnel checked on all parties involved in the incident, and all were reported to be okay.
A tow truck arrived quickly at the scene and was able to efficiently remove the damaged vehicles and clear debris from the roadway, helping to expedite the reopening of the affected lanes.
