YUMA, AZ – May 28, 2025 – Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol Troopers arrested a driver near Yuma today after a dangerous pursuit that began with multiple 911 calls from concerned citizens.
According to reports, citizens alerted authorities to a vehicle driving erratically and at high speeds. A significant and dangerous detail reported was that one of the vehicle's tires was severely compromised and appeared to be off the rim. Due to the ongoing danger posed by the fleeing vehicle, Troopers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, successfully stopping the car. The driver was then taken into custody without further incident. An image from the scene shows an individual detained in the back of a patrol vehicle.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and potential charges are pending as the investigation continues. AZDPS commended the citizens who reported the dangerous driver, allowing Troopers to intervene and prevent a potentially more serious incident.
