Dunnellon Driver Arrested for DUI After Pedestrian Killed in US-98 Crash

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A 32-year-old Dunnellon man was arrested for DUI after a pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday morning on U.S. 98 in Citrus County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 3 a.m. on August 18, 2026.
According to FHP, Timothy Tyler Corcoran, 32, was driving a Nissan Xterra northbound on U.S. 98 when he encountered a male pedestrian walking in the roadway north of West Ashburn Lane.
The Xterra struck the pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly identified the pedestrian.
Following the crash investigation, Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Corcoran for driving under the influence.
Photos from the scene show the Nissan Xterra with significant damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle and damage to the windshield. The SUV could be seen along the roadway as law enforcement investigated the fatal collision.
Additional details surrounding the circumstances of the crash and Corcoran's arrest were not immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
