FHP Searching for SUV After Hit-and-Run Leaves Woman Critically Injured in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a woman standing outside her vehicle along Colonial Drive in Christmas, leaving her critically injured.
According to information provided directly to iSkyNews.com by the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the hit-and-run crash at approximately 6:17 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of State Road 50, also known as Colonial Drive, just east of St. Nicholas Avenue in the Christmas area of Orange County.
Investigators said a 25-year-old woman from Winter Springs was standing outside her parked 2021 Nissan Kicks on the right shoulder of eastbound SR 50 when she was struck by an approaching vehicle.
According to FHP, the unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound when it struck the woman. The driver did not remain at the scene and continued eastbound following the collision.
The woman was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Witness Describes Possible SUV
A witness told investigators the vehicle involved may have been an SUV, although its color and other identifying information remain unknown.
FHP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash, has information about the vehicle or driver, or may have captured the vehicle on dashcam or surveillance footage around the time of the crash to contact investigators.

FHP Reminds Drivers to Stay at the Scene
As investigators continue working to identify the driver, FHP is reminding motorists that leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, injury or death is against the law.
Drivers involved in a crash should remain at the scene, move to a safe location when possible and call 911 if anyone may be injured. Motorists should also exchange driver, vehicle and insurance information when appropriate and document the scene when it is safe to do so.
