HAINES CITY, Fla. — A Haines City woman is back in the Polk County Jail after deputies say she attacked a man with an aluminum baseball bat, fled from law enforcement, and intentionally rammed a deputy’s patrol vehicle near Haines City High School Tuesday morning.
The incident prompted Haines City High School to be placed on heightened security as the situation unfolded nearby, according to information provided directly to iSkyNews.com by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the Haines City residence of 32-year-old Jasmine Janae Cuyler at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after receiving a report that she had attacked a man.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told investigators Cuyler initially began hitting him repeatedly with her fists before arming herself with an aluminum baseball bat.
Deputies said Cuyler damaged the victim’s television and then struck the victim several times with the bat as he attempted to run from the home.
Cuyler then allegedly fled the residence in a white 2016 Toyota Corolla.
Deputy Attempts Traffic Stop
A Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the Toyota a short time later and conducted a traffic stop on County Road 544 at 30th Street in Haines City.
According to PCSO, the deputy ordered Cuyler to get out of the vehicle, but she refused and sped away in the direction of Haines City High School.
The situation resulted in the school being placed on heightened security.
Investigators said Cuyler drove down a dirt road located between the school and a cemetery before abruptly making a U-turn.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Cuyler then intentionally rammed her Toyota head-on into the occupied patrol vehicle.
The deputy subsequently used his patrol vehicle to immobilize the Toyota.
Once the vehicles came to a stop, the deputy again ordered Cuyler to get out of her car.
PCSO said Cuyler refused and yelled to the deputy that he was going to have to kill her.
The deputy was eventually able to pull Cuyler from the vehicle. Investigators said she continued resisting before being secured in handcuffs.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises during the alleged attack.
Previous Arrests
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Tuesday’s arrest marks Cuyler’s third time in the Polk County Jail within two years for incidents involving physical violence.
PCSO said Cuyler was previously arrested on March 29, 2025, and again on July 26, 2026, for alleged physical attacks involving the same victim.
Deputies also learned following her arrest that Cuyler previously worked as a sergeant at the Charlotte Correctional Institution.
According to PCSO, Cuyler had previously been arrested and sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service for smuggling cell phones into the prison where she worked.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd addressed the latest arrest.
“Jasmine Cuyler has clearly shown that she is a violent person, and the severity of her violence is getting worse. She hadn’t even been out of jail more than two weeks before getting arrested again. She’s obviously a threat to the victim, and without a doubt a threat to the public in general.”
Charges
Cuyler was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with:
- Aggravated Battery, a first-degree felony
- Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, a first-degree felony
- Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, a second-degree felony
- Fleeing to Elude, a second-degree felony
- Resisting with Violence, a third-degree felony
- Felony Criminal Mischief, a third-degree felony
- Reckless Driving with Property Damage, a first-degree misdemeanor
- Battery, a first-degree misdemeanor
- Violation of Pre-Trial Release, a first-degree misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana, a first-degree misdemeanor
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a first-degree misdemeanor
The allegations remain pending in court, and Cuyler is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
