ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.  A 62-year-old Orlando man died Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 535, also known as Winter Garden Vineland Road, and Buena Vista Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 3:49 p.m. on August 6, 2026.

According to FHP, the 62-year-old man was driving a 2020 Ford Escape eastbound on County Road 535, approaching Buena Vista Drive. Ahead of him, a 2011 Honda Accord driven by a 45-year-old Orlando man was stopped at a traffic signal.

Troopers said the driver of the Ford Escape failed to stop for the Honda. The front right side of the Escape struck the rear left side of the Accord.

Following the initial collision, investigators said the Ford continued eastbound and struck a light pole at the intersection.

The driver of the Ford Escape suffered critical injuries and was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. FHP said his next of kin has been notified.

The 45-year-old driver of the Honda Accord was not injured and remained at the scene. According to the FHP report, both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No additional information about what may have caused the Ford driver to fail to stop has been released.
