Central Florida Weather Update – 4:30 PM

NEWS BRIEF: The National Weather Service in Melbourne is monitoring increasing thunderstorm activity across Central Florida this evening. Forecasters expect storm coverage to expand along the I-4 corridor, including the Orlando and Kissimmee areas, as sea breeze and outflow boundary collisions develop later in the day. Some storms could persist past sunset, bringing the potential for gusty winds up to 50 mph, frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – We’ll be keeping a close eye on the I-4 corridor through this evening as developing outflow boundaries and sea breeze collisions create a favorable environment for additional thunderstorm development.

While much of Central Florida has seen only isolated activity so far today, forecasters expect storm coverage to increase from the Orlando metro south through Kissimmee and surrounding communities later this afternoon and into the evening hours. Some storms may continue past sunset, which is somewhat later than the typical summertime pattern.

The greatest concerns with any stronger storms will be:

⚡ Frequent lightning
💨 Gusty winds up to 40–50 mph
🌧️ Heavy downpours and localized flooding
🚗 Reduced visibility for motorists along I-4 and nearby roadways

Meanwhile, scattered storms continue across portions of the Treasure Coast, while additional development is expected to spread inland toward the Orlando area as the evening progresses.

Residents across the I-4 corridor should remain weather aware and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions through tonight. Stay tuned to iSkyNews.com for the latest weather updates and radar information.
