Urgent: Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Issued for Parts of Poinciana After Water Line Break

POINCIANA, Fla. — Residents in parts of the Poinciana area are being urged to boil their water before using it for drinking or food preparation after a water line break prompted a precautionary boil water advisory, according to Toho Water Authority.

The advisory will go into effect once repairs to the damaged water line are completed. At this time, Toho says there is no estimated timeline for when repairs will be finished or when the advisory will be lifted.

To help determine whether your home is located within the advisory area, Toho has provided an interactive online map where customers can enter their address. Officials note that, due to circumstances beyond the utility's control, the map may not always reflect real-life conditions, so customers should continue monitoring official updates.

As a precaution, customers in the affected area should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for:

Drinking
Cooking
Making ice
Brushing teeth
Washing dishes

Officials say this recommendation also applies to filtered water. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

Water used for bathing, showering, and laundry does not need to be boiled, according to Toho.

The advisory will remain in effect until required regulatory water quality testing confirms the system meets state drinking water standards. Toho says the next public update is expected by Sunday, August 2.

According to Toho Water Authority, the utility is the largest provider of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services in Osceola County, serving more than 175,000 customer connections throughout St. Cloud, Kissimmee, Poinciana, and portions of Osceola, Polk, and Orange counties.
