POINCIANA, Fla. — A Poinciana woman was arrested Sunday night after investigators say she harassed a neighbor, entered his garage without permission, and falsely reported that he attempted to run her over with a vehicle.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a disturbance call at approximately 10:19 p.m. on May 31, 2026, after 45-year-old Cynthia Thales contacted authorities regarding an incident involving her neighbor.

During the call, Thales told dispatchers that the man next door had attempted to strike her with his vehicle. Deputies later obtained a sworn written statement from Thales in which she again alleged that her neighbor intentionally tried to "run her over."

As part of the investigation, deputies reviewed recordings and security video from the scene.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the footage showed the neighbor arriving home and backing his vehicle into his garage. Investigators say Thales then ran onto the neighboring property, entered the garage, and stood in front of the garage door sensor, preventing the door from closing.

While inside the garage, deputies say Thales shouted obscenities at the victim and told him, "Call the cops, immigrant!"

Investigators also allege that Thales picked up a sandal and a can of WD-40 from inside the garage and threw both items at the victim's windshield.

The victim reportedly remained inside his vehicle until deputies arrived at the scene.

After reviewing the evidence, deputies determined that Thales was not the victim in the incident but was instead the primary aggressor. Investigators concluded that her allegations against the neighbor were false.

Cynthia Thales was arrested and transported to the Polk County Sheriff's Processing Center.

She was charged with:

• Burglary with Assault (First-Degree Felony)
• Petit Theft from a Dwelling (First-Degree Misdemeanor)
• Knowingly Giving False Information of a Crime (First-Degree Misdemeanor)

The investigation remains documented by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
