Traffic Alert: US-92 Closed at North 46th Street After House Fire Sends Heavy Smoke Into Area

Drivers in Tampa are being asked to avoid the area of US-92 and North 46th Street after a house fire shut down the roadway Wednesday afternoon.

Thick smoke could be seen rising into the air as firefighters worked aggressively to knock down the flames. Multiple Tampa Fire Rescue units, along with law enforcement officers, responded to the scene, where traffic quickly backed up in both directions.

Photos from the scene show firefighters battling the fire near mobile homes and nearby vehicles while hoses stretched across the roadway. Several lanes remain blocked as crews continue working in the area.

Officials have not yet said what caused the fire or whether anyone was hurt.

If you normally travel through the area, it’s probably a good idea to find another route for now, as delays are expected while emergency crews remain on scene.
