One person was killed and 11 others injured, including five critically, in a devastating crash near Signal Butte Road and State Route 24 in Arizona’s East Valley. Authorities continue investigating the deadly Sunday morning collision.

A devastating multi-vehicle crash in Arizona’s East Valley left one person dead and 11 others injured Sunday morning, triggering a large-scale emergency response near the Signal Butte Road and State Route 24 Gateway Freeway interchange.

The crash happened just before 8:45 a.m. on May 24 on the overpass leading onto State Route 24, according to early emergency radio traffic and scene information.

Officials confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The severity of the crash prompted a major medical response, with emergency crews rushing to assist numerous victims. Authorities say five additional patients suffered critical injuries, while six others were reported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple ambulance units responded under Code 3 emergency conditions, transporting several victims to nearby trauma centers for urgent treatment. Other injured patients were taken to local hospitals.

At this time, authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and investigators have not confirmed what caused the deadly collision.

According to Prime News Network, preliminary information indicates only two vehicles may have been involved, though officials have not yet publicly confirmed that detail.

Traffic in the area was significantly impacted as first responders worked the chaotic scene, treated victims, and began the crash investigation.
