Traffic Homicide investigators believe Moran was operating a Polaris Sportsman 400 ATV when he lost control of the vehicle. The crash caused him to be ejected, and he initially struck his head on the pavement, sustaining severe trauma.
In a grim turn of events, investigators report that Moran remained on the ground for an unknown period before his head was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of that second vehicle did not stop at the scene. Detectives noted that the driver may not have realized they had struck a person.
Fussell Road was closed for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene. The PCSO is continuing to look into the circumstances of the crash and is working to identify the second vehicle involved.
