Double Fatality Confirmed Following Motorcycle and Bicycle Collision on US-41

LUTZ, Fla. — A devastating collision on US-41 has claimed the lives of two men following a late-night accident on Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred on April 23, 2026, at approximately 8:45 PM. Troopers report that an 81-year-old man from Lutz was traveling southbound on US-41 aboard a Kawasaki motorcycle.

Just north of Swans Landing Drive, an 87-year-old bicyclist from Land O' Lakes attempted to cross the highway, traveling westbound. The bicyclist reportedly entered the direct path of the motorcycle and was struck.

The impact was catastrophic for both parties involved:

The Bicyclist: The 87-year-old man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Motorcyclist: The 81-year-old operator was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries who later died.

The names of the individuals involved have not yet been released as authorities continue their investigation into the specific circumstances of the crash. Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours Thursday night as investigators processed the scene.
