Water Line Bursts at Rural Road and Baseline, Sending Water 60 Feet Into the Air

TEMPE, Ariz. — A dramatic water line rupture sent a powerful stream of water shooting roughly 60 feet into the airSaturday while crews were working on a water line near the intersection of Rural Road and Baseline Road in Tempe.

The incident occurred while utility crews were performing work on the line when the pipe suddenly burst, releasing a massive column of water that quickly flooded portions of the roadway. Video from the scene shows water gushing high above nearby traffic signals and pouring across the street as crews worked to regain control of the situation.

The rupture caused significant water flow across the intersection, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and temporarily impacting traffic in the area.

Workers remained on scene attempting to shut down the line and contain the water, though it was not immediately clear how long repairs would take or what caused the pipe to fail.

Motorists traveling through the area were advised to use caution and expect possible delays while crews addressed the rupture.

Footage of the incident was provided to iSkyNews.com by Arizona Crime Network, which captured the dramatic moment the water line burst.
