Pedestrian Killed in Late-Night Crash on Dale Mabry Highway in Hillsborough County, FHP Says

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed Friday night after being struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross Dale Mabry Highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. on February 21, 2026, on northbound Dale Mabry Highway just north of Idlewild Avenue West.

According to investigators, Vehicle 1, a Lincoln MKZ driven by a 19-year-old Tampa woman, and Vehicle 2, a Honda Civic driven by a 66-year-old Tampa man, were both traveling northbound on the roadway in the same direction.

FHP reports that an 18-year-old Tampa man attempted to walk across the highway, entering the path of both vehicles. The pedestrian was first struck by the Lincoln MKZ and then hit by the Honda Civic in successive order.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene, troopers said.

No additional injuries were immediately reported. Authorities have not indicated whether impairment or speed were factors in the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
