Driver Killed After Vehicle Overturns and Catches Fire in Lake County Crash, FHP Says
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A driver was killed early Saturday morning after a vehicle ran off the roadway, overturned, and caught fire at a rural Lake County intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on February 22, 2026, near the intersection of County Road 474 and Bruno Road.
According to FHP, a 2008 Mazda 3 sedan was traveling westbound on County Road 474 east of Bruno Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver ran off the roadway to the right and overturned.
Troopers say the impact caused the vehicle to become fully engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the identification and notify next of kin.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
