Attic Fire Shuts Down Hwy 547 and Old Lake Wilson Rd in Davenport
DAVENPORT, Fla. — Crews with Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a working residential structure fire at 6121 Hwy 547 N in Davenport on Saturday afternoon.
Initial reports indicated smoke coming from the attic of a two-story home. Firefighters determined the blaze was associated with a light fixture in the attic area. Crews shut down Old Lake Wilson Road and Hwy 547, with traffic also blocked at Old School Road and Ronald Reagan Parkway in both the northbound and southbound directions to allow emergency operations.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office shut down the surrounding roadways to secure the scene. Aerial footage from iSky1 captured the large emergency response from above as units worked the incident.
Power to the home was secured at the breaker as firefighters accessed the attic and removed insulation to fully extinguish hot spots and prevent further spread.
Multiple units responded, and crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully contained and the structure was safe. No injuries have been reported at this time.
