Citrus County, Florida — A tragic crash claimed the life of a woman Tuesday evening after she was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 41 in Citrus County.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 6:25 p.m. on January 20, 2026, along US-41 just north of Eden Drive. A Chevy Silverado, driven by a 60-year-old man from Inverness, was traveling northbound when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway.

Authorities say the pedestrian, a 56-year-old woman from Friendsville, Pennsylvania, entered the path of the truck and was struck. She suffered fatal injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased.

The driver remained at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

This stretch of US-41 is a busy, high-speed roadway, and the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers pedestrians face when crossing major highways—especially during evening hours when visibility can be reduced.

The crash remains under investigation. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
