Underage DUI Driver Crashes Through Construction Zone in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. (iSkyNews.com) — Just before midnight on September 29, 2025, Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a crash on the Loop 101 near 67th Avenue, westbound, after a driver plowed through a closed construction zone.

According to AZDPS, the underage driver ignored barricades blocking the roadway, striking and destroying several pieces of safety equipment — including a guardrail and multiple large water-filled containers meant to protect construction crews. The impact caused severe front-end damage to the vehicle, which came to rest partially lodged in the construction trench.

After investigating the scene, troopers determined that the driver was both underage and under the influence of alcohol. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.131 — well above the legal limit.

The driver was checked by medical personnel at the scene, then arrested for DUI and released to a responsible adultfollowing medical clearance.

Authorities are reminding the public that drinking under the age of 21 is illegal — and drinking and driving not only endangers lives but doubles the criminal consequences.

“Talk to your kids about the dangers of drinking and always find a sober ride home,” AZDPS said. “The buzz isn’t worth the risk.”
