Orlando Man Sentenced to Six Years in Federal Prison After Lying to FBI in ISIS Investigation

ORLANDO, Fla. (iSkyNews.com) — A 47-year-old man from Orlando has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for lying to the FBI during an investigation into his online activity supporting the terrorist group ISIS, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Islam Doci will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. He pleaded guilty on October 15, 2024, to making false statements to federal investigators.

FBI: “Protecting Americans Is Our Top Priority”

Prosecutors said Doci used social media to share ISIS propagandacommunicate with ISIS members overseas, and send money to support the organization’s activities. He also helped others contribute funds to ISIS.

One post Doci shared read:

“If Islam is terrorism, then O God give me more of this terrorism until the day I die. If Islam is radicalism, then O God, give me more of this radicalism until the day I die.”

Investigators said Doci celebrated the killing of Americans and viewed supporting ISIS financially as part of “being at war.” Despite his involvement, he denied it when questioned by the FBI — twice — which ultimately led to his arrest and conviction.

“Protecting the American people from terrorist attacks is the FBI’s top priority,” said Matthew Fodor, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Tampa Division. “I commend the special agents and analysts in this investigation whose proactive efforts and agility prevented the spread of ISIS ideology.”

Case Background

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kara M. Wick and National Security Division Counterterrorism Section Trial Attorney Andrew J. Dixon.
