One Dead, Several Injured After Box Truck Fleeing Hit-and-Run Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash in Brevard County

MELBOURNE, Fla. (iSkyNews.com) — A woman was killed and multiple people injured Friday evening when a box truck fleeing from a hit-and-run crash ran a red light and caused a violent six-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Eber Boulevard in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred around 6:42 p.m. on October 3, 2025, when a 26-year-old Melbourne man driving a 2017 box truck was traveling south on Hollywood Boulevard and failed to stop for a red light at Eber Boulevard. The truck entered the intersection and slammed into the driver’s side of a 2021 Porsche Taycan, driven by a 67-year-old woman from Melbourne Beach.

The impact caused the box truck to overturn onto its side, slide across the intersection, and crash into a grassy ditch on the southeast corner. Debris from the wreck struck several nearby vehicles that were stopped at the light, including a Mazda 3, Honda Odyssey, Ford Escape, and Toyota Camry.

Troopers said the Porsche spun out and collided with three of the stopped vehicles during the chain reaction. The female driver of the Porsche was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. Investigators confirmed that moments before the crash, the truck was actively fleeing from a prior hit-and-run incident under investigation by the West Melbourne Police Department.

Multiple other drivers and passengers suffered minor or no injuries, according to FHP.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that charges are pending as the crash remains part of an active criminal investigation.

🚨 Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or West Melbourne Police Department.
