7-Year-Old Girl Killed, Two Other Children Injured After Being Struck by Pickup in Tampa

TAMPA, FL — Tragedy struck in Tampa Sunday evening after three children were hit by a vehicle while crossing the road, leaving one dead and two others injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. on North 56th Street near Society Park Boulevard.

Investigators say a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 34-year-old man from Hialeah, was traveling southbound when three juveniles ran across the roadway, entering the vehicle’s path. The driver was unable to avoid striking them.

An 11-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 7-year-old girl, also struck in the collision, suffered critical injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
